Basic wildcard expression use

The following example is based on this previous example but instead of using the text capture method “starts with… coninues until…” it uses wildard expressions.

It receives emails like this:

From: test@example.com
To: example@example.com
Subject: Temperatures
Temperature: 22.1
Temperature: 22.3
Temperature: 21.7
Temperature: 20.8

 

The key on this example is how the parser is configured:

Wildcard expressions are quite easier than Regular expressions. A ‘?’ matches any character and ‘*’ matches any sequence of characters. Therefore, the meaning of the wildcard expression ??.? means “Any two characters followed by a dot and then followed by another character”
