Overview of the different parsing methods

The rules that define how to capture text from an email are configured in the field settings. To get started with text capturing, you need to first create a field and then select a capture method that best fits your needs.

how to set up email parsing

Configuring text capturing can be challenging and sometimes requires a bit of trial and error to get it just right. Don’t worry though-this is a normal part of the process. The usual workflow for setting up text capturing is as follows:

  1. Create a new field under a Parser.
  2. Select one of the available capture methods. The Starts after… continues until… and Ask AI methods are the most commonly used and often the easiest to start with.
  3. Configure the capture method by introducing what you expect to come into an email. To do this, click on the “Pick an email for testing” button. This allows you to select a sample email that will be used to test and refine your text capturing rules.
  4. Play with the options and adjust the settings until you see that the testing area output matches what you expect to capture. This iterative process helps you refine your rules to get exactly the data you need.

For more complex parsing tasks, you can try other methods like Regular expressions, XPath for capturing text in an HTML document, or even scripting for advanced scenarios that require custom logic.
